Jessica & Rob - Bedell Cellars Wedding

Beautifully crafted by Daria Culver Events, Jessica & Rob's wedding at Bedell Cellars was simply a knockout. The deep reds and bright greens captured by Kristine Foley depict the explosion of color that fall bestows on us in these fleeting moments before winter; reminding us to take a pause and enjoy nature's best.

Vanessa & Kris - Vineyard Caterers Wedding

Kris & Vanessa's families have known each other for two and a half decades, but oddly enough, Kris & Vanessa had never met until one day in East Hampton. Their love for each other was instant. Vanessa & Kris chose Vineyard Caterers in North Fork for their reception location due to the abundance of picturesque landscapes and friendly atmosphere. The couple's wedding day was captured by ADA Studios.

Tips from the Bride & Groom:

1. If you would like specific photos taken at your wedding, do not hesitate to write them down for the photographer! For example, I wanted plenty of detailed shots and group shots of my husband and myself with the guests at their tables during dinner.

2. Be creative! Add some personality by including some of your favorite foods at the wedding. For example, we had filet mignon and hummus, some of my husband's favorite food and we had mini dessert tarts and crab cakes, some of my favorites! Let the wedding be about you and a way of inviting your family and friends into your lives through great music, fun and tons of food!

3. I wanted to pay tribute to my grandparents, so we included some songs that were popular when they got married in the early fifties. They really appreciated them and it brought back great memories!

4. There are a ton of "random costs" that pop up during the planning and preparation, such as the marriage license fee, tips, hotels, decorations, etc. Allocate some extra money in your budget for "surprise" and misc. expenses.

Kelly & Michael - Brecknock Hall Wedding

Kelly and Michael met about four years ago while teaching in the South Bronx. Kelly was immediate impressed with Michael's intelligence. Michael adored Kelly's passion for teaching. They spent the beginning of their relationship in the kitchen enjoying getting to know each other while making homemade pizzas, pastas, pies and other treats from the farmers market.

Kelly and Michael chose to include as many friends and family as possible in their wedding at the Brecknock Hall mansion. Kelly's best friend from college, Tiffany, sang at the wedding ceremony accompanied on the piano by Michael's Aunt Alice. Michael's brother Dan is an incredibly talented graphic designer who designed the save the date, invitation and menu. Michael's cousin Dave is a virtuoso on the piano and played during the cocktail hour.

Kelly and Michael were very committed to having amazing food at their wedding. They searched the forks for a caterer who could make local, sustainable food for the masses in a delicious and simple way. After a long search, they found Food for Forks. Peter is an incredible chef and all of the servers were extremely professional. Guests were impressed with the speed and precision of the oyster shucker!

All and all, they had an incredible day thanks to a whole host of dedicated and thoughtful professionals.

Tips from the Bride & Groom:

We truly had an amazing experience planning our wedding together. We made a deliberate choice in the beginning to never let this joyful event get to the best of us. We also chose that we wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us as a couple. We knew that it would require more work on our part, but we were willing to put in the extra effort to have a unique celebration.

When we got engaged in June 2010, we each wrote down 2-3 things that were really important to us and then started planning our wedding in order of importance to us. That made the process more enjoyable for us. We chose to listen to each other instead of all of the wedding advice that was coming at us. It worked out for the best in our opinion!

Other tips that worked for us:
- Have fun with it! If you want a band, plan date nights to see bands in action
- Save the reply cards from your invitation and use them to plan your seating arrangement
- Take time on the wedding night to get away as a couple
- Decide what tasks you do not want to have a hand in at all and delegate (For example: Michael's sister is extremely creative and organized, and I knew we could rely on her to create the welcome bags for the guests. We did not have to think twice about it and so many of our guests said it was the nicest welcome bag they ever received!)
- Over-budget for your expenses... the surprise savings will make your life easier in the end

Jade & Daniel - Brecknock Hall Wedding

Jade & Daniel's beautiful Brecknock Hall wedding by Joseph Lin Photography:

From Jade:

We used such great vendors. Each one of them was so independently special and efficient, I could not believe that everything was so cohesive and calm, considering such a hectic and complicated event. We tried to keep everything local and mainly East End, we mixed South Fork and North Fork vendors to get the right feel. For the tent, we used NY Tent Company, catering was provided by Food for Forks, liquor was provided by Southampton Publick House (we were just in time for their Pumpkin Ale, which we put in everyone's welcome bags when they arrived at the hotel to get a sample of what was to come). Party Rental LTD did all of our tables, chairs and silverware. NYC Photo Booth provided us with a vintage photo booth, which we used as our guestbook.

About three weeks prior to the wedding my husband and I infused 160 small bottles of olive oil with rosemary and crushed red peppers to give out as favors, they were a hit and looked beautiful. We bought the little bottles and funneled each ingredient into them ourselves, definitely made with love! Sacred Sweets (now known as Mali B Sweets) made our cake, a stunning piece of art with butter cake and fresh peaches with dulce du leche inside. They also provided us with little cookies (Rosemary shortbread and Mexican chocolate), which were put into mini bakery boxes, tied with a ribbon that had each person's name and table number on them. Paul at Down Home was our florist and was fabulous; he worked within my budget and saw my vision immediately. I had collected various small vases in different shades of purple glass to be used throughout the cocktail hour with tiny assortments of flowers. He created a magical space and the centerpieces were a collection of wildflowers and herbs (rosemary was included-- I sense a theme here). David Beck provided our wait staff and servers. Bettina Yiannakourou performed the most intimate, personal and special ceremony. She is extremely talented and warm and infectious in her speaking and was actually a recommendation from Joseph Lin.

My mother was my maid of honor and Daniel's father and brother were his best men and we kept the bridal party very small to avoid the drama. My best friend's daughter (Ava Jade) was our flower girl and our little twin boy "ring security" walked her down the aisle-- actually they kind of dragged her, not realizing she was only a year old and couldn't walk as fast as they could. It made for a funny, cute interaction and she loved the attention and was all smiles being dragged around by these little blonde twin boys. Special Effects did our hair and Michelle Huber did the makeup. Memories, a small bridal salon in North Bergen, NJ, was where I got my dress and veil. The North Fork Trolley provided our guests' transportation to and from Brecknock Hall and Cliffside Resorts (which is where our guests stayed for the weekend); everyone loved riding a trolley around town!

We did a same day video edit that Joseph Lin recently started offering and it was so touching and wonderful. He gathered everyone around during the reception and we got to watch, movie style, a beautiful artistic highlight video, which was set to the song, to make you feel my love, of the events that just took place. It was something different that I'd never seen done before, and it was nice for my husband and I to see what was going on since, as the bride and groom, you are so caught up in the moment, you barely get a chance to take it all in.
